Long before U.S. National Team Captain Landon Donovan scored his first goal at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, he spent years and countless hours learning how to perfect his first touch and how to use both the inside and outside of his foot to dribble and shoot.
Skills he first learned while playing organized youth soccer in California; much like the hundreds of children who hone their skills each year in the Upper Moreland Youth Soccer system.
It is also here at the youth level where the competitive nature of soccer allows a player to understand that they get out of the sport what they put into it. In other words, a lot of effort and determination is required to succeed, and soccer provides a great training ground for players to learn valuable life skills. For example, the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship, learning how to win and lose and of course what it takes to succeed.
The arrival of both the Philadelphia Union (MLS) and Philadelphia Independence (WPS), are proof that soccer is alive and thriving here in the Delaware Valley and with both teams and leagues giving so much back to the Delaware Valley Soccer Community, now more than ever is the perfect time to team up with the Upper Moreland Soccer Club.
