Dear Parents,
Another exciting season of soccer is upon us!
The 2009 season showed continued progress in our desire to make this the best program possible for our children. Our partnership with Adidas grew stronger and our club sent players to the Coerver soccer camps to increase their skill and enjoyment of the game. In addition, partnerships were strengthened with Atlantic Soccer Factory and Angelo’s Soccer Corner.
The club continued our in-house training sessions in 2009. Hundreds of players from both the Travel and Intramural programs attended the three sessions that were run entirely by UMSC volunteers. All who attended improved their skills and had a good time doing so.
The travel program saw continued growth and improvement with many teams being promoted up a level from the previous year. This was shown by several teams performing well in tournaments and in Inter-County Soccer League play. Many trophies were won! We look forward to continued success in 2010.
The intramural program was as strong as ever and we conducted the fourth annual championship for the under 15 league, the players, coaches and parents all enjoyed themselves. Our intramural select teams played well in our in house and outside tournaments and we have a strong basis for the 2010 travel season.
For 2010 we find ourselves in a very unique situation. There has never been such excitement surrounding the game of soccer as there is this year. Not only is the World Cup being played this year in June but we have two new professional soccer teams beginning play this year; the Philadelphia Union (Major League Soccer) and the Philadelphia Independence (Women’s Professional Soccer). UMSC has partnered with both organizations and you will soon be made aware of the benefits of these partnerships in upcoming announcements. The world is watching and playing the game more than any other time in history and we are very excited to channel that enthusiasm into our program.
While that enthusiasm will certainly help drive us throughout the year we are looking to building on the successes of the 2009 season. What makes these achievements possible are our volunteers. You can volunteer as a coach, work on fundraisers, referee, line fields, or help with our Intramural Tournament. These are just a few of the ways in which you can help our soccer club become even stronger. The current board of directors is dedicated to making the soccer playing experience as rewarding as possible for our children. Currently, we have a few board positions open so if you want to be a part of a dynamic youth-sports organization and make a difference for the youth of our community, please feel free to contact me. The Upper Moreland Soccer Club needs you to help make this a great soccer year in 2010!
Sincerely,

Matt Ansbro

UMSC is proud to announce the creation of our social network accounts on twitter and facebook.
Now, along with the website, twitter account and facebook page there are more ways than ever before to stay updated on the events and news surrounding Upper Moreland Soccer Club. Both accounts give UMSC the opportunity to communicate information quickly to our club members and community.
Facebook is one of the world’s most popular online social networking sites, providing opportunities for people to network and connect with each other on the web. Additionally, businesses, non-profits, and other organizations are able to promote themselves using Facebook’s pages feature. The UMSC page can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Upper-Moreland-Soccer-Club/202771561275
Twitter is a social networking site where individuals, businesses, and organizations broadcast short bursts of information, or “tweets”, to groups of “followers”, and the limit of 140 characters per “tweet” forces users to deliver information to their followers concisely. It is the fastest-growing social networking site in the world! The UMSC Twitter feed can be found here: http://twitter.com/UpprMorlndSoccr
This is a great opportunity for the club to be able to use these tools and allows us to deliver information in more ways than ever. The club is really looking forward to connecting with our community even more than we do now! Join us!
